How Great is Our God

How Great Is Our God

Is that the question or the answer?  I would say that it is both.  We can ask ourselves “How great is our God?” and the answer is always “So great!”.

God is our creator of all things, the author of everything, the finisher.

Genesis 1:31 – 2:2  Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.  Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished.  And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

God is our healer

Isaiah 53: 4-6 “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

Our provider

Matthew 6:25 – 34 “Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life? And why should you be anxious about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field and learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin. Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear?  For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.  But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. 3 So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.”

Luke 6:33 “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Our planner, our director

Philippians 2:13 “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

Our protector

Psalm 57:1 -2 “Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction passes by.  I will cry to God Most High, To God who accomplishes all things for me.”

Our leader, our guide

Psalm 25:4-5 4 Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”

Our still small voice, our comforter, our peace

1 Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”

Romans 5:1-2 “ Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.”

Philippians 4:7 “and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Our joy, our happiness and our king.  God is our faithful father, the one we can turn to at any time, any where

Hebrews 4:14-16 “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.  For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Romans 15:13 “May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.”

And He is there waiting on us

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.”.

And as the the question, our God is so great that He healed, sacrificed His Son for us filling the gap and restoring our ability to spend eternity with Him.

John 3:16-18 “For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him. He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation--he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's name.]”

He is so great he gave us words to live by for every situation in life.

Ephesians 1:3-8 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;  Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;”

Chapter 1

I started working on what will become Chapter 1 of “Cultivating a Living Faith That Makes The Impossible Possible”.  Which really is quite a long title so we will see if that title sticks or if it changes.  But who knows.  I got a call yesterday from a publishing company letting me know they are sending me a contract via UPS so we will see what that is all about.  I am super excited and yet trying to stay as non-excited as possible at the very same time.  Which really is very hard.  I want to scream it from the roof tops but since I need to enter all situations regarding this book and my speaking ministry with prayer and mild reverence I am doing my best.  Plus if it all falls through I don’t want the whole world to know about it.   At least I know there is always the fall back of self-publishing it. So either way it will be published at some point.

In with the new, out with the old

I have been very busy these last few days updating this site and getting it ready to launch my next book (which isn’t finished yet) and my speaking ministry (which I haven’t started yet) but I knew that a web presence is so important so I got to working on that first. (How’s that for a run on sentence?)  I also dropped the price of my first book (A Month Of Proverbs) from $17.99 to $15.99.  I am loving the new look and theme, I think I have it nearly exactly the way I want it to look but that may change.  You never know.

I also sent the manuscript draft to a publisher today, the kind that pay you not the other way around LOL.  I will self-publish my next book if I have to, But I am going to try the traditional publishing route first. And I am listening to Christmas music today, I couldn’t wait. I love it.  It just makes me happy.  I figured that if there can be a blizzard in October, then I can start listening a day early. :)
